A Press Release of the Nepali Army revealed that foundation stone of the much awaited project of National Defence University was laid by the Army Chief.
The Press Release is reproduced as given below-
1. Commander-in-Chief Maharathi Prabhuram Sharma has laid the foundation stone of Sri National Defense University's physical infrastructure at Perunge Danda located in Ward No. 13 and 14 of Banepa Municipality, Kavrepalanchok District today, 23rd November 2079.
2. Formulation of necessary policies and strategies related to national security and defense, in-depth research, research and analysis, building manpower who can contribute to strengthen and modernize national security; To fulfill the need for higher education related to national security of officers of the civil service, Nepali army and other security agencies; The National Defense University was established in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal dated 12th of Falgun 2076 in accordance with the purpose of developing a network related to national security through various educational programs and academic activities, as well as developing strategic culture and supporting the expansion of high-level civil-military relations. yes
3. For the construction of National Defense University, 2.6 km gravel road, 1380 meter perimeter wall, 1 lakh liter capacity water tank, deep boring, land development and 3 phase power line expansion have been completed from the budget allocated in the financial year 2076/077.
4. After the policy and program of the government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2079/080 included that "National Defense University will be brought into operation" the foundation stone was laid for the construction of student accommodation and central library of the university from the allocated budget. Members of the Construction and Development Committee, Nepali Army charioteers, Joint Secretary Yagya Prasad Dhungel, Head of the Management Division of the Ministry of Defense, various subject experts, heads of local bodies, heads of various offices and security bodies in Kavrepalanchok district, local intellectuals and others were present.
