Sri Lankan President initiates measures to abolish executive presidency and introduce new electoral system  Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena, fulfilling his election promises has initiated measures to abolish the executive presidency and introduce a new electoral system. The President announced Tuesday that he will present a special cabinet paper to tomorrow's cabinet meeting regarding the abolishment of executive presidency and electoral reforms. "It is my expectation to introduce a new electoral system which is responsible to the Parliament, abolish executive presidency and transfer the powers of the President to the Parliament and independent commissions," the President said.
