Sri Lankan government plans to initiate a domestic mechanism by January The Sri Lankan government is planning to initiate a domestic mechanism to probe the human right violations committed during the war by next month and finish within 18 months.Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that Sri Lanka expects to begin a consultation process to set up a domestic mechanism from the second week of October and complete it by the end of January next year. Addressing a news conference at the Foreign Ministry, Minister Samaraweera said the government was confident of obtaining international support for a domestic inquiry and added that international experts could play a role in technical and advisory capacities in the domestic mechanism.
