Sri Lanka, US Navies discuss means of strengthening defense partnerships and future naval affairs

The navies of the United States and Sri Lanka focused on strengthening defense partnerships during discussions held by the top naval officials of the two sides in Colombo. The discussions were held when the Deputy Commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Brigadier General Brian W. Cavanaugh called on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters. During the meeting, they held extensive discussions on matters of bilateral importance as well as future operational and training aspects of the recently established Marine Battalion of the Sri Lanka Navy, the Navy said in a statement.
