Sri Lanka tourism revives slowly after April bombings, tourist arrivals increase 66 percent in June from May


Sri Lanka tourism showed signs of revival in June with a 66 percent increase in tourist arrivals from the previous month after plunging over 70 percent following the Easter Sunday bomb attacks on churches and hotels. According to the latest data from the Tourism Ministry, total number of international tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka during June was 63,072, up from 37,802 reported in May 2018 after April 21 attacks. However, tourist arrivals have declined during June 2019 against the same period last year. In comparison to June last year, arrivals declined 57 percent from 146,828 in June 2018. In May tourist arrivals decreased by 70.8 percent from the same period last year...................
