Sri Lanka PM assures foremost place given to Buddhism and unitary state will not be changed in new constitution

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today assured that the foremost place given to Buddhism and the unitary state policy will not be changed when formulating a new constitution or amending the existing Constitution.The Prime Minister made this observation after paying a courtesy call on the Chief Prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters during a tour of the Kandy City today.The Premier after his reinstatement in the Prime Minister post visited Kandy and paid homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa today.The Prime Minister met with the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter Most. Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera and the Mahanayake Thera of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera and received their blessings......................
