Sri Lanka opposition suggests joint Indo-Lanka naval patrols to prevent fishermen poaching Sri Lanka's Opposition in parliament has suggested that India and Sri Lanka should hold joint naval patrols to prevent fishermen from poaching in each other's waters. Sri Lanka's main opposition leader R. Sampanthan speaking during a debate in parliament today on the nagging issue of Indian fishermen poaching in northern waters said the incursions had also raised tensions between the two countries and should be resolved amicably. "This is a matter that raises hostilities between the people of the two countries.
