Sri Lanka main Tamil party to support no-confidence motion against new PM Mahinda Rajapaksa

Sri Lanka's main Tamil party, Tamil national Alliance (TNA) has decided to support the no-confidence motion brought by the United National party against new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. In a statement issued today, the TNA said the President does not possess the authority to remove a Prime Minister who is in office and removal of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and replacing him with Mahinda Rajapaksa is unconstitutional and illegal. The TNA also considers the prorogation of the parliament by the President Maithripala Sirisena is undemocratic and in violation of Parliamentary Supremacy.
