Sri Lanka Army opens high altitude athletic training center atop Piduruthalagala Sri Lanka Army today opened a state-of-the-art High Altitude Training Centre (HATC) atop the island's highest point, the Piduruthalagala mountain in Nuwara Eliya to train its athletes in long distance running. The new training center at over 8,000 ft. above sea level provides space for potential runners both in the services and the civil sector to undergo training at higher elevation to improve and raise their lower-elevation performance. The HTAC is complete with training tracks and a new gymnasium, equipped with sport training accessories, to the value of more than Rs 1 million.
