Sri Lanka Army, Navy assist flood relief and rescue in the North Sri Lanka Army has deployed more than 700 troops serving in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Wanni districts of Northern Province to provide immediate assistance for rescue and relief efforts of the District Secretariats in those areas. The Army troops have provided assistance in evacuating and relocating the nearly 5000 flood-affected people to safer areas and provided them with cooked meals, medical assistance, sanitary and technical facilities. Sri Lanka Navy said it remains standby to deploy its personnel with their boats on flood relief operations to render assistance to the people affected.
