Prove simple majority and remove me', Sri Lanka Speaker tells government

Responding to the government parliamentarians' allegation that the Speaker is biased towards the opposition parties, Sri Lanka Speaker Karu Jayasuriya told the government to prove its majority and pass a no-confidence motion against him.Issuing a statement, the Speaker's Media Office said the at the beginning of the party leaders' meeting held today under his leadership, the Speaker noted that representatives of several political parties holding contrary views are in attendance and requested them to respect each other's views peacefully.The Speaker has presented a lengthy explanation of how he intervened in the defense of Parliamentary democracy in the face of unprecedented crises in parliamentary history that arose after October 26 and his stance on the issues.The speaker stressed that he is still on the same stance as when he met President on October 27 that the new government has to prove majority clearly and pointed out that it is the responsibility of the side that usurped the power to show majority............
