Central Bank clarifies erroneous report issued by Nomura Holdings on Sri Lanka's short term external debt

Sri Lanka's Central Bank issuing a statement said a recent analysis by Nomura Holdings Inc has incorrectly reported that Sri Lanka's short term external debt is as high as US$ 160 billion but the actual figure is nowhere near the reported amount,The Central Bank said that Nomura's error in relation to Sri Lanka's short term external debt figure itself shows that the report has not undergone a thorough review before publication and advised the investors and the general public to form their own informed opinion with regard to Sri Lanka's macroeconomic conditions and potential,Several international media sites have recently quoted an analysis by Nomura Holdings Inc., which shows that seven emerging economies including Sri Lanka are at risk of an exchange rate crisis.
