36 Sri Lankans have gone to Syria and some of them have joined ISIS - Defense Secretary Sri Lanka security officials say they have received information that 36 Sri Lankan citizens have entered Syria secretly and some of them have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Speaking to BBC Sandeshaya, Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi said that these people including women and children have entered Syria after leaving Sri Lanka to visit other countries on pilgrimages. He said the government has received information that 36 people including women and children have entered Syria. "Only some of the 36 have joined ISIS," Hettiarachchi said.
