Pakistan Warns of Islamic State's Growing Reach A senior Pakistani intelligence official admitted on Wednesday that the Islamic State group (IS) is a growing threat in Pakistan, according to media reports. It was the strongest admission by a high-ranking government official of an IS footprint in Pakistan. Officially, Islamabad has consistently denied that IS has a presence there. Aftab Sultan, the General Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), briefed the Senate Committee on Interior and Narcotics in a closed hearing, saying that IS-linked groups have been expanding in Pakistan.
