Pakistan China Pandemic Diplomacy Strengthens Relations, Mutual Commitment

Visit by Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi to China the first by any global leader after the country has come out of the COVID 19 emergency and refusal to withdraw students underlined a new marker in building relations between the two countries.

Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi said that his visit to China was to show solidarity with China in a stressful time when both countries were facing challenge from COVID 19 or the corona virus. “My visit to China on invitation of President Xi Jinping was to show solidarity with China in stressful times, appreciate their outstanding effort to contain Coronavirus & for taking good care of students in Wuhan. How to #iFightCorona War in Pakistan was discussed in great detail” he claimed in a Tweet.

The trip was ostensibly taken upon a special invitation by Chinese President Xi Jinping prior. This was also the first visit by President Alvi after having taken over the Presidency in 2018 and was perhaps long overdue but the timing of the visit assumes significance in what could be termed as pandemic diplomacy............
