OSINT Report: Sharif’s 26/11 Admission, Harakiri or Shrewd Move?

Pakistan’s deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s admission of involvement of the state in supporting the Mumbai 26/11 terrorist attacks in which 170 were killed and several injured and remarks that the trial could not be brought to a logical conclusion has led to much jubilation in India. Confirmation of a well-established fact by someone so high in the authority of the country even though at present he has been judicially barred from holding public office was seen as  vindication of the Indian government’s stand that Pakistan is a state supporter of terrorism euphemistically called, “Terroristan”. Given the fact that he is under heavy pressure by the Establishment – Pakistan Army, the intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the judiciary and campaigning for parliamentary and provincial council elections to be held in July has already commenced in full swing; Sharif may seem to have placed himself into a corner.The military is so upset with the statements by Nawaz that it has called for an emergency National Security Committee meeting on 14 May, just two days after the interview with the Dawn was published.,,,,,,,,So why has Sharif taken this immense political risk?
