OSINT Report: Pakistan –Nawaz versus Judiciary, Sharif May Win in People’s Court

In another landmark judgement on 21 February, Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is not eligible to hold the post of the Party President as he is disqualified under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution which seek a person who holds a high post as member of the parliament has to be sadiq (truthful) and ameen (righteous).  The judgement issued by the court read: "Under Article 63-A of the Constitution, the position of a party head of a political party that has representation in, interalia, the Parliament has a central role in the performance of duties by the members of the Parliament. For rendering such a role, a party head must necessarily possess the qualifications and be free of the disqualifications contemplated in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution."
