OSINT Report- Redux of Minus One Formula in Pakistan

The ides of disfavour are evident in the fate of the Sharif family. The Minus One Formula is once again in the air in Pakistan’s power corridors wherein acceptance of a Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) government sans disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is being floated by unspecified sources in the establishment. Many feel that this could be the Pakistan Army or Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). There are voices within the PML-N who are calling for Shahbaz Sharif to lead the PML N. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordina¬tion Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada was one of these who sought the change after National Accountability Board indicted Nawaz Sharif and also issued a bailable arrest warrant against him. However, a meeting between Shahbaz Sharif with his niece Maryam Nawaz, in Lahore seemed to dispel any differences within the family. Maryam’s husband Captain (r) Safdar and cousin Hamza Shehbaz were also present. Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab Chief Minister, also emphasized that relations among state institutions should be balanced and the government must serve the public. The chief minister’s comments came in the backdrop of controversy stirred by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor. Civil military relations in Pakistan as usual seem to be on the rocks?..........................
