Erdogan Visit to Pakistan, Strengthening the PMT Alliance

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in Islamabad on a two-day visit, which as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan Curtain Raiser is, “aimed at strengthening bilateral strategic partnership and economic ties”.

In his usual style he was received at the Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Imran Khan and driven down to the place of stay. In his first official engagement of the visit, the Turkish leader held a meeting with President Arif Alvi.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Erdogan held a one on one and then co-chaired the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Turkey High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) in the joint cabinet format.

The High Level Strategic Cooperation Council is the highest level decision-making forum, providing strategic direction to further strengthening of relations between the two countries. There are 7 Joint Working Groups (JWGs) working under the HLSCC, focused on Political Coordination; Trade & Investment; Energy; Banking & Finance; Transport & Communications; Culture & Tourism; and Education. So far, 5 sessions of the HLSCC have been held, alternately in Islamabad and Ankara..................
