Potential Clash between United States and Iran Supported Militias in Al Tanf

The United States Central Command in a statement on 08 June admitted that a U.S. aircraft shot down an armed pro-Syria regime Unmanned Aerial Vehicle after it fired on Coalition forces in Southern Syria. The US Central Command stated that the pro-regime UAV, similar in size to a U.S. MQ-1 Predator, was shot down by a U.S. aircraft after it dropped one of several weapons it was carrying near a position occupied by Coalition personnel who are training and advising partner ground forces in the fight against ISIS. The al-Tanf checkpoint is on the Syrian side of the border, in Homs province. Control of the al Tanf is important to have a through route of access from Syria to Iraq and then to Iran thus the Iranian supported militias are hoping to secure the same.
