OSINF Report: Nuclear Suppliers Group Statement on Plenary 15 June

Public Statement of the Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group - The twenty-eighth Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), chaired by Ambassador J?nis Zlamets of Latvia, was held in J'rmala, Latvia, on 14 and 15 June 2018.  The NSG brings together 48 Participating Governments* with the European Commission and the Chair of the Zangger Committee participating as permanent observers. The Group aims to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons through the implementation on a national basis of export controls for nuclear and nuclear-related material, “dual use” material, equipment, software and technology, without hindering international cooperation on peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, H.E. Mr. Edgars Rink?vi?s, welcomed the Participating Governments on behalf of Latvia and noted the importance of a strong rules-based international order in tackling proliferation among other transnational security challenges. The Minister reaffirmed the importance of the NSG for the global nuclear non-proliferation regime.................
