Iran's Presidential Election: Implications for Indo Iranian Relations  Iran’s Presidential elections held on 14 June 2013 saw a land slide victory for Hassan Rouhani, the lone reformist candidate. Rouhani surged ahead of five conservative rivals to win 18,613,329 votes which were 52.49% of the votes cast. A candidate has to get over 50 percent of the votes to be declared the winner. His closest rival Tehran Governor Mohammad Qalibaf, a former commander of the Iran Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Air Force could secure only 6,077,292 votes.
