Iran IRGC Navy increases activities in the Persian Gulf with entry of USS Stennis

The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) held Great Prophet 12’ the 12th edition of IRGC ground forces’ exercises in the Qeshm Island which is South of the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf. Tehran Times reported that the drills were the last stage of the 12th Payambar-e Azam military exercises started on December 15 in the central parts of Iran with the participation of rapid reaction units, airborne units, demolition and combat units, mid-range missiles, commandos and Special Forces.  Anti-helicopter mines (AHM) were tested in the drills for the first time. There were concerns as the exercises coincided with the entry of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Nimitz-class nuclear-powered super carrier on the US Navy in the Persian Gulf waters after a long absence...........................................
