OSINT Report: Nepal Elections Results and India’s Options

 The electoral politics in Nepal was shaken up when the two major left parties -CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) along with Naya Shakti Party-Nepal led by former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai announced an alliance in October just ahead of the upcoming provincial and federal elections. This strategy seems to have worked as the Left alliance is heading towards a two-thirds majority (108) in the 165 seats for the First Past The Post (FPTP) contest having established wins or leads in 115 of which results are precise so far. The Alliance could win 120 seats leaving the Nepali Congress and the other parties just 45 or so. In the Proportional Representation (PR) category with 110 seats to be decided by the people based on preference for parties, preliminary reports indicate that the CPN UML is again leading while the Communist Party Centre is in the third position...................
