Nepal – Political Consensus for Taking Up Boundary Issue with India

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli assured an all party meet commitment of the government to maintain territorial sovereignty of the country and take up the issue through diplomatic channels with, “friendly nation,” India.

In rare political consensus, key political leaders in Nepal have called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to reclaim Nepali territory encroached by India in Darchula district during a meeting held on 09 November.

A number of former Prime Ministers and foreign ministers were a part of those who appelaed that the government should immediately raise the border issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi government and substantiate Nepal's claim to Kalapani including the Lipu-lekh pass, a tri-junction between Nepal, India and China by presenting historical facts and documentary evidence.

There is also consensus of taking up the issue for resolution internationally if India fails to respond to Nepal’s requests................
