State of Militancy in Jammu and Kashmir April 2018

Terrorist groups in Kashmir suffered a major setback on 01 April as 13 terrorists including some key commander were killed in a series of encounters in South Kashmir. The operations by security forces are expected to dent the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The number of militants has also gone down. Pulwama, Awantipora, Kulgam and Anantnag districts reportedly have 25, 23, 20 and eight militants respectively.  As per Greater  Kashmir, Shopian saw an increase in the number of youth joining the terrorist fold after killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in July 2016, but these went up to 32...................
