OSINT Report: Pakistan’s Creeping Federalisation of Gilgit Baltistan

Gilgit Baltistan formerly known as Northern Areas is a part of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir which has been under Pakistan’s occupation post the 1947-48 hostilities. Over the years Pakistan is attempting to federalise the region thereby further undermining India’s territorial sovereignty. Gilgit Baltistan also assumes importance in view of the link to China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with the Karakoram Highway a key link passing through this areas. Over the years through the issue of Executive Orders, Pakistan is attempting to amalgamate Gilgit Baltistan a part of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir into the federal structure.....................................
