Kashmir – Wither Light at the End of the Tunnel?

On 05th of October the heavy security bandobast in Kashmir would complete two months. Violence has been low while there have been differing claims of “normalcy,” which have been published by the Government and the civil society at large including media particularly international.

Some Indian media sources such as Press Trust of India (PTI) have carried out independent reviews of the situation.Former Congress Chief Minister of the State and senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad have been cryptic in their remarks that the situation is very grave.

Internationally India’s narrative of the necessity for removal of the Article 370 being a temporary provision that had to go and the need for heavy security to prevent Pakistan from incitement of people in the Valley seems to have been generally accepted. But for four nations – Pakistan, China, Turkey and Malaysia none have raised the same publicly during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly. Possibly in one on one sessions concerns may have been expressed but which are unlikely to be made public very soon........................
