OSINT Report: Is President Yameen Setting Up Friendly Presidential Elections for 2018.

The first round of presidential elections in the Maldives is planned for early September. The  Elections Commission of Maldives has begun the preparatory work including briefing of journalists. After the first round the second round if necessary will be held within 21 days from the election day. In a fair game the two main contestants despite the hugely ambitious string of political leaders in the country are likely to be incumbent President Abdullah Yameen and former President Mohammad Nasheed who is presently in exile. Nasheed who won the first free and fair elections in 2008 and also scored over 40 % votes in the first round in 2013, remains the most popular leader in the atoll nation...............  On the other hand return of Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim to contest the elections cannot be ruled out.  Gasim was third in the first round of voting in Presidential elections in 2013 and President Yameen may assume that he is not as popular as Nasheed and thus will be a weak candidate who may also satisfy in letter international agencies....................Is this the game plan, we will have to wait and see?
