Maldives seeks Integral Surveillance Capabilities in IOR

         Maldivian Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi has officially requested the Indian government for an additional seagoing vessel. This was revealed during an interview with an Indian news agency in her official trip to India where she also interacted with  her counterpart Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the sidelines of the DefExpo 2020 held in Lucknow.

Mariya also met Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat who had recently been to Maldives on an official visit.

Maldivian governments request has been received very positively by the Indian government, according to the Defense Minister Mariya.

The visits highlight the importance accorded by India to bilateral relations with Maldives and seek to strengthen the existing bonds between the two countries.

India had recently provided a vessel named “Kaamiyaabu” in December 2019....................
