Maldives Presidential Elections speculation grows over possible delay?

 Even as Maldives is slated for Presidential elections on 23 September, there is growing speculation that the polls are likely to be postponed. Four trends point to such an eventuality as outlined below, even though the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives is insisting that polls will be on time. Firstly an obscure Facebook post attributed to the Defence Minister claimed of a plot to destabilise the country.  As per a Rajje.MV post, Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar announced on 04 August that there is a plot to destabilised the country and, “The Maldives National Defence Force and Maldives Police Service are together looking into this very closely,” he said in a Facebook post and asked the public to report any unusual activity.................
