India Reaffirms Commitment to Security of Global Commons

Security of the Global commons was a key point in the manifesto of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the recent elections. Sustainment was evident as the Indian Coast Guards (ICG) will be co-hosting 12th ReCAAP ISC capacity building workshop in New Delhi from June 19 The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) is the first regional government-to-government agreement to promote and enhance cooperation against piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. The ReCAAP Agreement was launched in November 2006 with14 Asian Contracting Parties including North, Southeast, and South Asian countries. It has 20 Contracting Parties, including Europe (Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom), Australia, and the United States. The ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) was established in Singapore on November 29, 2006. Timely and accurate information sharing between ReCAAP ISC, ReCAAP Focal Points, regional authorities, and the maritime community enable timely response and accurate analysis, and promote situation awareness among key stakeholders...........................
