Australian Statement QUAD II - Australia-India-Japan-United States consultations

On 7 June, senior officials from Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade met representatives from the foreign ministries of India, Japan and the United States in Singapore.  The officials continued discussions on promoting an open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific where all countries respect sovereignty and international law, freedom of navigation and overflight, and sustainable development.  The officials reaffirmed the four countries' commitment to deepen cooperation on the basis of shared democratic values and principles.  They confirmed their resolve to uphold and strengthen the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.  Meeting participants discussed ways to achieve shared goals, including in development and connectivity; good governance; regional security, including counter-terrorism and WMD proliferation; and maritime cooperation.....................
