Tracking ISIS Indoctrinate Splinter and Individuals in South Asia

South Asia has presence of the Islamic State of Iraq and al Shams (ISIS) also known as the Islamic State or Daesh in two forms. The organised arm of the global terrorist movement is the Islamic State of Khorasan (ISK) which has presence mainly in Afghanistan and Pakistan though the geographic expanse is planned to increase to Central Asia, Russia and India. The ISK has emerged as a subsidiary though potent threat to the Afghan Taliban in Afghanistan and since 2015 has launched a series of deadly attacks in the country as well as in Pakistan mainly directed against the Shia Hazara and government targets. The ISK has to be countered by a viable counter terrorism strategy targeting the bases of the group which is being effectively undertaken by the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) and the United States Special Forces in Afghanistan and less so by the Pakistan Army in Pakistan. The ISK is a visible group with well defined organisation, leadership and geographic as well as human contours. Thus tangible counter terrorism operation can be undertaken to neutralise the group. Tracking these ISIS elements before they are able to carry out mayhem in the region assumes importance. For this purpose a multipronged strategy is essential to target the ISIS indoctrinates................................
