State of Terrorism in India 2018 – Assessment by US State Department

US Country Report on  Terrorism which is  submitted in compliance with Title 22 of the United States Code, Section 2656f (the “Act”), which requires the Department of State to provide to Congress a full and complete annual report on terrorism for those countries and groups meeting the criteria of the Act has indicated the overall state of terrorism in India as progressive

Jammu and Kashmir, North East and the LWE affected areas were most seriously impacted by terrorist violence in 2018 as per the Report despite progress made in neutralising the groups and strong resolve of the government

While the CPI Maoist was counted as one of the five most deadly terrorist groups – fifth in the order after the Taliban, ISIS, al Shabaab and Boko Haram it also remained the least lethal in all the groups.

The total incidents in 2018 attributed to the CPI Maoist were 177 which caused 311 fatalities at a rate of 1.76. Total injured were 136 at the rate of 0.77 while kidnapped and hostages were 73 at the rate of 0.36.........................
