State DGPs against slashing of central funds Directors-General of Police from several states warned Home Minister Rajnath Singh against a decision to slash central funding for state police forces, as they believed that this could hit their combat capability in insurgency and terrorism-hit states, reports the Indian Express on March 30. The Police chiefs have also warned that the cuts will hit plans to modernise the forensics and investigative skills of the  forces. The cuts in Modernization of Police Fund (MPF) were announced in the Union Budget as part of an effort to contain the fiscal deficit.
