Sri Lanka: Focus on Sustained Vigil and Inter-community harmony

As reports last came in on 1600 hours (IST) eight bomb blasts were reported from Sri Lanka on bloody Easter Sunday where celebrations by the Christian community appeared to bhe teh main targeted. Six explosions were reported early morning from Kochikade Church, Katuwapitiya Church, Shangri La hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, church in Batticaloa and Kingsbury Hotel between 0900 to 1015 hours. Two more explosions have been reported and information is awaited as on 1600 (ISIT) Bombs exploded at the St. Anthony's Church in Kochchikade, St. Sebastian's Church in Katuwapitiya, Katana, and Zion Church in Batticaloa while hotels Kingsbury, Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grands came under attack. Colombo Page reported at 02.13 PM that at least 137 people have been killed and over 400 injured in explosions at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.
