Two UG cadres killed in encounter with AR in Ukl Two underground cadres were reportedly killed in a fierce encounter with 44 Assam Rifles in a place between Bungpa Khunou and Rihang village in Ukhrul district on January 6 around 12.30 am. The site of the gunfight lies 5 km south of Chassad Police Station under Kamjong Sub-Division. According to sources, personnel of 44 AR posted at Chassad were patrolling when heavily armed UG cadres laid an ambush which the AR retaliated with heavy firing. On searching the firing site, two dead bodies belonging to an underground outfit were recovered along with an AK-56 assault rifle and magazine containing 12 live rounds.
