Softening borders in the North East

In the midst of the uncertainty Northeast is in against the backdrop of the ethnic churnings, the idea of a “Region State” first proposed by Kenichi Ohmae in an article in America’s prestigious scholarly journal, Foreign Affairs in 1993, is worth probing. The article by this well-known Japanese thinker and management guru titled “the Rise of the Region State” caused a stir much like Francis Fukuyama’s 1989 essay “End of History and the Last Man” which he later expanded into a book by the same title in 1992. Kenichi too expanded his own essay into a book titled “End of Nation State: The Rise of Regional Economies” in 1996 and his argument is that unqualified faith in the concept of Nation State as the most scientific organisation of human society and politics should now be abandoned and replaced by a broader and more liberal “Region State”. ....................
