Naga Militancy on the Cusp of Breakthrough?

With two of the original protagonists of the post Shillong Accord Naga independence movement having passed away the movement may be seen at a cusp. NSCN (K) Supremo, SS Khaplang passed away on 9 June at Takka in the Kachin State of Myanmar after a brief illness. Khaplang belonged to the Hemi Naga tribe of Myanmar. Khaplang’s IM counterpart Isak Chishi Swu, died on 28 June 2016  in Delhi where he was admitted in the Fortis Hospital for age related medical problems. Of the NSCN leadership thus only General Secretary of the IM, Thuingaleng Muivah is alive and is leading the negotiations with the Government of India.
