Article 371 appears imminent in state, CPI raises concern


If Article 371 is extended in Manipur, the state government will have no power over Naga inhabitant areas and it will give a huge impact in the state resources, said state secretary, Communist Party of India (CPI) state unit, L. Sotinkumarwhile  speaking at the 71st Manipur Kanba Numit celebration held today at Irawat Memorial Hall, Chalou, Lamlai assembly constituency, Imphal East.

The day is to commemorate the Pungdongbam Ghatna, 1948 wherein Irawat fully went underground during the time when his movement against the proposal of forming the ‘Eastern Province’ (Purbanchal Pradesh) propounded by Nehru led interim union government in order to establish an Indian state, was banned by the then king...........................
