Will CIC Ruling Lead to Greater Transparency in Defence Contracts?

Major ruling could generate transparency in defence procurement system if implemented by the Ministry of Defence in letter and spirit, the central information commission has ruled that the Ministry of Defence must ascribe reasons for withdrawal or rejection of proposals. Information commissioner Divya Prakash Sinha in his order stated as per the Times of India, "Commission is of the considered opinion that there should be greater transparency and accountability in the process of defence procurement, in as much as the vendors should be apprised of the reason for withdrawal of proposals or rejection of proposals."
