Sri Lanka ends emergency four months after suicide bombings, Term of CDS Extended

Sri Lanka has ended a four-month state of emergency declared after Easter Sunday suicide bombings by extremists, officials said Friday (Aug 23).  President Maithripala Sirisena declared the state of emergency on April 22, after multiple terror attacks in the country on Easter Sunday killed nearly 260 people and injured over 500. Sri Lanka President's office has confirmed that President Sirisena had not extended it for another term and thereby allowed the emergency to end on Thursday. "The president did not issue a fresh proclamation extending the emergency by a further period," AFP said quoting an official source...............
