Pak NFU? Imran’s Gaffe, Would Weaken Full Spectrum Deterrence

Prime Minister Imran’s announcement of NFU was quickly retracted by the foreign office, given implications on negating full spectrum deterrence vis a vis proactive conventional operations by India.fDr Muhammad Faisal, spokesperson of the foreign affairs ministry in a press release by the Ministry referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement that Pakistan will not be the first to use nuclear weapons said that these comments were taken out of context and there is no change to Pak nuclear policy. The Press release of 02 September states, “In reply to a question, the Spokesperson said that Prime Minister's comments on Pakistan's approach towards conflict between two nuclear armed states are being taken out of context. While conflict should not take place between two nuclear states, there’s no change in Pakistan’s nuclear policy”...................
