OSINT Report: Estimates of Indian Defence Budget 2018-19

Various guestimates of the Defence Budget 2018-19 are being made by analysts including brokerage firms having interest in defence stocks. Brokerage IIFL Wealth Management is pinning for Bharat Electronics (BEL), Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Forge to gain due to increase in the Capex. Kotak Securities expects the defence budget to touch Rs 3,00,000 crore with higher expenditure growth in the capital head. Given the annual shortage in the capital budget allocations to the tune of $ 9 Billion, whatever the Finance Ministry may allocate will be less. At the same time, the average surrender of funds per year is about $ 1 billion which has become almost a standard annual norm. A variety of causes can be attributed to the same including the inability to complete the procurement process, lengthy contract negotiations and so on................
