Naval Utility Helicopter – Brief Details

Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, met on 25 Aug 2018 and accorded approval for  procurement of 111 Utility Helicopters for the Indian Navy at a cost  of over Rs. 21,000 crores.The Naval Utility Helicopter as per the Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Indian Navy should be able to perform the following roles by day and night:- (a) Search and Rescue. (b) Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC). (c) Communication Duties. (d) Anti-Piracy and Anti- terrorism. (e) Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).
