Indian Army Procurement of VSHORADS Igla S

India Army is set to procure over 5000 Igla S hand held air defence missiles which could considerably enhance capability against low flying aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. Multiple media reports have indicated that the Russian shoulder-fired, anti-aircraft missile system IGLA-S has been identified as the L-1 (lowest bidder) for the Indian Army very-short range air defence missile system (VSHORADS) competitive procurement process in which the Swedish RBS 70NG and French Mistral were close competitors. The competitors Rosoboronexport, MBDA of France and Saab of Sweden were informed of the decision in a meeting by the Ministry of Defence officials on 19 November.....................................
