Indian Air Force Practice Firing of BrahMos to Hone Skills

Indian Air Force BrahMos unit successfully fired two Surface to Surface missiles at Trak Island in Andaman Nicobar group of islands on 21 & 22 Oct 19 with a view to hone up their firing skills.

While firing of BrahMos by air force personnel in a ground role appears to be some what strange but the objective appears to be to hone up skills for recognition of the ground targets and gain perception of strike potential of the missile.

On May 23, 2019IAF successfully fired the BrahMos air version missile from its frontline Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft for the second time.

The air launched BrahMos missile is a 2.5 ton supersonic air to surface cruise missile with ranges of close to 300 km, designed and developed by BAPL.

The dedicated and synergetic efforts of the IAF, DRDO, BAPL and HAL have proven the capability of the nation to undertake such complex integrations...........................
