Defence OFB, DPSU Unions to Resist Privatisation, Corporotisation

Ordnance Factory and Defence Public Sector Unit unions are increasingly resisting privatisation and corporotisation plans of the government of India which concerned of efficiency of these units sought to incentivised the production in the private sector. At present 20 percent of the defence production in India is in the private sector while the bulk of the orders are cornered by the Ordnance Factories and the DPSUs [Defence Public Sector Unit] Within weeks of assuming charge of the Defence Ministry Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has voiced government’s desire to encourage private industry investment in defence sector at a number of forums. Addressing CEOs of top Defence and Aerospace companies at a roundtable with the theme ‘Make in India in Defence Industry’ recently, Shri Rajnath Singh said defence companies have huge opportunities in contributing to domestic market in addition to exports.......................
