OSINT Report: Hasina’s India Visit, Sans Teesta, Large Rohingya Package Likely

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached Kolkata for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She will attend the Visva Bharati University Convocation at Shantiniketan as the guest of honour, receive honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt) Degree from Kazi Nazrul University at Asansol in West Bengal. The two prime ministers Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi will jointly inaugurate the Bangladesh Bhaban at Shantiniketan. Hasina will also be meeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee where the two are expected to consolidate their relationship but the Teesta water sharing will not be on the agenda. In the largely mutually beneficial engagement between India and Bangladesh in the past decade which spanned to different governments in India much progress has been made but the sharing of Teesta waters continues to remain a sore point....................... For Sheikh Hasina as well as ironically for Mamata Banerjee this is a critical issue which may swing parliamentary elections in their countries. A short review of the critical factors in Indo Bangladesh relations is in order...............
